Come Close

James 4:8

Come near to God and he will come near to you.

Psalm 145:18

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

You don’t have to get cleaned up before you come close. You just have to come. James said if you draw near to God, He will draw near to you. That is not a trick. That is a promise. He is near to all who call on Him in truth — not the polished version, the honest one. The tired one. The “Lord, I need You” one. The world will keep pulling you in every direction. He is still inviting you in. Closer than the noise. Closer than the worry. Closer than the thing that has been sitting on your chest. Call on Him. He is already leaning in.

1

Take two quiet minutes and call on Him by name.

2

Tell Him the truth, not the speech you think He wants.

3

Stay close through the next conversation and the next task.

Lord, I come close. I don’t have fancy words. I have a heart that needs You. Thank You that when I draw near, You draw near to me. Thank You that You are near to all who call on You in truth. I call on You now. Forgive me for staying busy when You were inviting me closer. Soften my heart. Quiet my mind. Make me honest with You and hungry for You. Stay near today. Lead me. Hold me. Let me walk through this day knowing I am not far from You. I love You. I need You. I am Yours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
