He Hears the Small Prayers

Matthew 6:8

Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Psalm 145:18

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Some prayers are short. “Help.” “Thank You.” “Lord, give me patience in this traffic.” Maybe you’ve wondered if those even count. They do. God isn’t grading your vocabulary. He’s not waiting for a long speech with all the right words. A child who yells “Daddy!” from the other room doesn’t need a script. Dad hears it and comes running. Your Father is the same way, only better. He knows what’s on your heart before you say a word, and He loves it when you say it anyway. So pray in the car. Pray in the kitchen. Pray in the checkout line. Short prayers reach Him just fine.

1
Say It Short

Next time you feel stressed today, stop and whisper one sentence to God. That’s it.

2
Pray for Someone Quick

When a person comes to mind, pray for them right then. Don’t wait for later.

Father, thank You for listening, even when I can’t find the words. Help me talk to You all day long, not just when things get hard. I’m glad You hear me. “Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24).

Matthew 6:5-8; Psalm 145:17-19; Romans 8:26; Isaiah 65:24; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
