Today’s Bread
Faith Compass
Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Morning Light
In the wilderness, God fed His people every single morning. Manna on the ground, fresh, enough for that day. But here was the catch. You couldn’t stockpile it. Save it for tomorrow and it rotted overnight. God wasn’t being stingy. He was teaching them to trust Him one day at a time. We want the whole month’s supply in the pantry before we’ll relax. We want next year figured out. Jesus didn’t teach us to pray for this year’s bread. He said this day. What you need for today, He has already provided. Tomorrow’s bread will be there tomorrow. So stop carrying next week on your back. Gather today’s portion, and trust Him with the rest.
Walk It Out
Write down the one thing that has you worried about tomorrow. Then pray over it, and leave it with Him for tonight.
Before bed, name three ways God provided for you today, big or small.
Quiet Place
Lord, You know how I like to plan ahead and hold on tight. I want the whole road mapped out before I take a step. Teach me to trust You for today. Thank You for the bread You’ve already put in front of me, the breath in my lungs, the people in my life and Your mercy that showed up again this morning. When I start worrying about tomorrow, remind me You’ve never missed a morning yet. I’ll gather what You give me today and trust You for the rest. In Jesus’ name, amen. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:34
