True Leadership – Trusting God
Sunday Word
Friends and family, brothers and sisters in Christ, let's settle down for a moment. Quiet our hearts. Take a deep breath before reading into this...
In these busy, crazy days, jammed packed with information, thoughts come at us from every direction. Social media feeds overflowing with opinions, videos and teachings that sound so convincing, even well-meaning advice from people we love and respect. It’s easy to let those voices shape our steps, our decisions, our walk with the Lord.
We’ve all felt that pull at times—the quiet pressure to please others, to avoid rocking the boat, to keep everyone happy. It feels human, even kind. But when we lean too heavily on outside suggestions, or those who mean well—whether close friends/family, online personalities, dramatic predictions, or even prophetic words—we can miss the gentle, steady leading of the Holy Spirit.
And God is calling us higher today: to true leadership that listens first and foremost to Him.
The good news is He wants to set us free—free to follow Him with confidence, peace, and bold assurance.
Let’s open our Bibles and let His Word speak directly to our hearts. The verses that I've shared here shouldn't just stop here, go further.. Expand on what He is putting on your heart. Get the revelation down deep, and be in a union with our Lord by being in the written word every day.
The foundation of true leadership is simple and unchanging: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6). When the world gets to be overwhelming and chaotic, we pause. We close the apps, turn off the feeds, get quiet, open Scripture, pray, and let God speak. His voice brings real direction—not the latest trend, not the most charismatic teacher, but the quiet whisper of the Spirit who lives inside you. The Greater One is in you (1 John 4:4), and He is more than enough to guide your every step.
Here’s something we need to hear clearly: Scripture tells us plainly, “we know in part and we prophesy in part” (1 Corinthians 13:9). Prophets, teachers, ministers—they can encourage, correct, and point the way, but they see and share only in part. Their words are never a replacement for God’s complete, written Word or your personal time with Him in prayer. When we start chasing the next prophetic voice for answers, for timelines, for certainty, we can become distracted, anxious, or even disappointed. Date-setting, fear-based warnings, running from one “new word” to the next—these things pull our eyes off Jesus and onto speculation.
Instead, go straight to your Bible. Remain in prayer. Seek the Lord yourself. He is the Source. His Word is living, active, and sufficient. Don’t let any human voice—prophetic or otherwise—become the main thing you lean on. Let God Himself be your Counselor.
That same pull to follow others often shows up as people-pleasing. We’ve all done it—bending to avoid conflict, staying silent when we should speak, shaping our choices around what others think. But Paul asks us the piercing question: “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? …If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10). Pleasing others can feel like kindness, but it can quietly lead us away from full obedience. The fear of disapproval holds us back from the bold steps God is calling us to take.
Today, let’s choose His approval above all else. It brings true freedom—no more walking on eggshells, wondering what people will think, or try to direct your own actions, just steady, joyful trust in what He says. Walk with BOLD confidence when you know that you are directed by God. Have faith and trust in Him that his direction is Devine. By being in the written Word, you are aligning your heart with His, and there is no mistaking that tug, he wants a relationship with you.
And here’s the beautiful promise: you already have everything you need to make this shift. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7). The power to tune out the world and tune in to God is already in you. As you do, true leadership flows naturally—quiet confidence in your daily walk, clarity in your calling, genuine love in your relationships. It’s faith over the fear. It’s God’s voice rising above every other.
Imagine someone scrolling through endless alerts, predictions, prophetic updates, youtube videos on end times, opinions—heart growing heavy with worry. We have to use discernment, but more importantly, we must be grounded in God’s written Word, and go to only Him on all of your worries, troubles, questions about what you are watching and viewing and hearing. The enemy is out to decieve many. Even those who might seem to be sincere and ‘mean-well’, yet stearing God’s children away from the source of Truth, the Holy Bible, and through prayer while having a perosnal relationship with God.
Open God’s Word, stay in prayer, and listen to Him alone. Peace floods in. The path ahead becomes clear. Strength returns. That’s the fruit of trusting Him above all. That’s true leadership.
Have faith, and faith even as small as a mustard seed. How do we get that Faith? We can't pray for it, you can't ask for it, it's either you have it—or you don't. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word. The more you get intimate with your Savior, the more He reveals Himself to you, and wants to show you So Much More!
This message is for anyone who needs that encouragement today—to filter out the the worldy noise, sift through the weeds, the fear, and simply rest in God’s leading.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for being our perfect Guide and the source of all truth. We choose today to trust Your voice above all others. Help us break free from people-pleasing, from running after the next Youtube video, or those powerful influences we might watch, listen to, and instead go straight to Your Word and remain in prayer with You.
Shut out every distracting thought. Fill us with Your power, love, and a sound mind. Lead us, Lord—we’re listening to You alone.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
